00-0013 - Database Re-Indexing

If the software shows error messages regarding database index problems, a re-indexing of the database is required.

Reasons

Index problems are usually caused by shutting down the server where the database is hosted while users are still working in the ZeeBORN application. Those shut-downs can be caused by malfunctioning power supply, any other hardware problems or if a user accidentally shuts the server down.

Solution

ZeeBORN provides a tool that allows the re-indexing of the database. This tool is available for download at https://downloads.zeeborn.net/ads/DBReindex.zip

The actual re-indexing process isn't that time consuming and should finish within a few minutes. For a office database the time required for the re-indexing depends on the number of ships and sites managed in the system.

1.Download the archive DBReindex.zip

2.Extract the archive to the ZeeBORN program folder (default is C:\Program Files (x86)\ZeeBORN\bin)

3.Make sure that an up-to-date backup of the database does exist.

4.Make sure that no user is connected to the database. All ZeeBORN applications must be closed. This is required because the re-indexing tool needs exclusive access to the database. If there is still an active connection to the database, the tool will show a related error message.

5.Start the tool by running the DBReindex.exe.

6.Start the re-indexing process by clicking the Start button.

7.After the re-indexing process finishes, check the created log for any error messages.
