"Kozlowski Tools" is a set a functions created together with and named after Miroslav Kozlowski who helped to develop a set of essential tools for creating a new database for a new vessel.

As the set of the Kozlowski Tools is intended to be used only for created new databases for new vessels, it should be carefully used for vessels already in operation.

Function

Description

Cut/Paste

While there is the Move function available for achieving the same results, in some cases it might be more convenient using Cut and Paste incl. the related keyboard shortcuts for moving a component in the component tree.

Copy/Paste

Copy/Paste allows to ways of operation

Copy marks a component as the source of data to be used for the following Paste operation.

With Paste you can either paste the copied data to an already existing component or you can use the copied data for creating a component - data will be added as a new sub-component to the currently selected component.

While pasting the data to an already existing component you can decide what type of data shall be included (maintenance jobs, spare parts, documents) and if existing details will be removed of those can't be found at the source component.

After copying maintenance job data to another component the function Calculate Schedules in module Schedules should be used for creating the next due dates for the copied maintenance job data.

Copy to other site

While the Cut/Copy/Paste functions are limited to the data within the same site/vessel, Copy to other site can be used for copying a component (incl. sub-components, maintenance jobs etc.) to another site/vessel.

Components copied to another site/vessel will always be added to the top level of the destination site/vessel. The Move function can be used later on for moving the component to the correct location in the component tree.

Delete (incl. sub-components)

The normal Delete function is quite limited (on purpose) to prevent the accidental removal of component data - it can be used only if all sub-components have been deleted before.

With the Delete (incl. sub-components) function in the Kozlowski-Tools set, a component incl. sub-components and related details like maintenance jobs and spare parts can be deleted without further confirmation.

Assign responsibility

This feature allows to assign the responsibility for all maintenance jobs of the selected component and sub-components.

Synchronize Components

Instead of using the Copy/Paste method for copying data from one to another component, the Synchronize Components function can be used for performing a list to list copy operation. The window shown after starting the tool shows two lists with all components of the current site/vessel. The left side is used as source data and the right side as destination. With the "Sync" button details of the component selected on the left side will be applied to the component selected on the right side.

Recover unlinked components

This tool is useful after importing component data from an external source. In rare cases it can happen that some components have a wrong or missing link to a parent component in the component tree - those components cannot be found and accessed in the component tree.

With the Recover unlinked components function those components will be made available in a special folder "(lost/recovered component data)" and can be moved later on to the correct location in the component tree.

Create El. Motor

This is a simple function for creating an electrical motor as a sub-component for the selected component.

Delete Unused Job Codes

This function checks all job codes defined for the current site/vessel and will deleted all job codes currently not assigned to a maintenance job.
