The preferred way of updating the components running hours in the system is by creating a maintenance report. Whenever a new maintenance report is added to the system, the counter values entered while creating the report will be used for adjusting the next maintenance schedules of the component and affected sub-components.
For components with changing average running hours per day it could be useful to enter the current running hours manually for having a more accurate forecast of maintenance job due dates. The manual update can by done via the menu Lists -> Counter List. This calls up a report with all component counters that are known in the system and that have been flagged as to be shown in the counter list. Within the list you can enter the new for the components you want to adjust. For components that you don't want to adjust, just leave the counter value column empty.
Adjusting Average Running Times (ART)
After entering a new counter value you will see the resulting new average running time in column Calculated Average Running Time. This is only a guidance to show how the current counter values affects the average running time. If you want to take over the calculated value as the new values to be used for maintenance schedules list updates, you will need to enter the desired value in column Average Running Time.
Applying Counter Value Changes to the System
As long as you enter counter values and new values for the average running time, these values will not be saved immediately to the database. Only after clicking the button Save all changes will be updated in the component records, counter history records will be created, counters of sub-components will be updated (as long as they don't have their own counter) and the maintenance schedules list will be updated. Please note that the maintenance schedules list update performed at this stage will update the counters for the next week only.
Using Interface for Automatic Updating
Your installation of the system may include an interface for an automatic updating of the running hour values in the maintenance system. Counter values that are being updated by an interface will usually not be shown in the Counter List. Depending on the users access rights there might be the exception that a manual updating will be allowed in case of malfunction of the interface.
