This document describes the usage of version numbers for ZeeBORN modules.
Due to the fact the all modules of the system will be compiled and released at once there is in fact only one "real" version number for the ZeeBORN system. Nevertheless you will also find version numbers for each module delivered with the system or delivered as an extra gadget.
Starting with version 13.7 each module of the system has exactly the same version number (including the setup module and general gadgets).
The Structure of the Version Number
The version number contains in fact details of the release date of the system.
The full structure is: year.month.release.built
year |
short format of the release year; 2016 = 16 |
month |
short format of the release month; July = 7 |
release |
this is the running number of releases during a month; the release number starts with 0 for pre-releases like alpha versions, beta versions and even release candidates; the first public release starts with 1. |
built |
The built number is in fact the most important version number detail. The built number is a number that will be incremented with each single full release of the system and will not be reset with newer major or minor releases. As this built number is also used for internal references in the quality assurance process while developing and releasing newer system versions, a "normal" customer won't see each single built because many internal/non-public releases will be created for internal testing only. |
The ZeeBORN version number will always show year.month.release only. The built number will only be shown in the about box.

This version was released in January 2014 and is the first release in this month. |
