Using Roles

The ZeeBORN User Management allows the management of users access rights by using roles.

The Basic Concept

For just a few users it might not be a big problem to manage the access rights user by user. But with an increasing number of users it's very suitable having the access rights management via roles. Instead of managing the access rights for each single user you can create a role, set the access rights for this role and than you just assign this role to selected users. Every user you assign this role to will automatically get the access rights of this role.

Example: Let's assume you have to assign a selected number of access rights to all masters in your database. Instead from choosing each master in the user list and modifying his access rights according to the requirements you can create a role called "Masters" and you define the access rights for this role - only once. After having the role ready you assign this role to each master in the user list. By doing so each master will have the access rights as defined in the role.

Maybe later on a decision has been made that all masters will get an additional access right. Instead of finding all the masters in the user list and updating their access rights accordingly you just choose the "Master" role and change the access rights their. The changes in the "Master" role will automatically assigned to all masters in the user list having the "Master" role

But if ...

there is only one master who will get one additional access right that other masters don't have the role concept might not work. But that's not a problem. You can still individually decide what access rights are to be assigned to each single user. So in this case just go to the related master in the user list and assign the access right you want. This concept also works for removing an access right from a user even if it was given to him by assigning a role that includes this access right.
